Ethical guidelines for museums

The ethical guidelines for museums of the International Council of Museums or the English ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums , form a basis for the professional work of museums and museum specialists.

The first complete version was unanimously adopted on November 4, 1986 in Buenos Aires by the 15th ICOM General Assembly, amended on July 6, 2001 at the 20th ICOM General Assembly in Barcelona and on October 8, 2004 at the 21st ICOM- General Assembly in Seoul revised.

In 2010, ICOM Germany, together with ICOM Switzerland and ICOM Austria, published an authorized German translation.
