Etsushi Ogawa

Etsushi Ogawa ( Japanese 小川 悦 司 , Ogawa Etsushi ; born February 23, 1969 in Niigata Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist .

The short story King of Fresh was its first publication in 1995. This appeared in the manga magazine Magazine Fresh . For its sister magazine Shōnen Magazine he drew from 1995 to 1999 under the title Chūka Ichiban! ( 中華 一番! ) And Shin Chūka Ichiban! ( 真 ・ 中華 一番! ) A story about a chef in China. This manga has also been published in 17 edited volumes and as an anime television series. Because of the popularity of this manga, Ogawa also published several illustrated cookbooks.

More comics about food followed. From 2001 to 2004 he created the series Food Hunter Sōraiden ( フ ー ド ハ ン タ ー 双 雷 伝 ) for the magazines Shōnen Magazine and Magazine Special, and in 2005 its sequel Bakumetsu Sōraiden ( 幕末 双 雷 伝 ). These two comic series together comprise six anthologies.

Since 2006 the illustrator has been working on Tenshi no Furaipan ( 天使 の フ ラ イ パ ン , translated: The Angel's Frying Pan ) for the comic Bom Bom magazine, which is aimed at a slightly younger target group than the magazines he worked for before. The manga like Chūka Ichiban! having young chefs as the main characters, won the 2007 Kōdansha Manga Prize in the “Children” ( Kodomo ) category .

Ogawa's works can all be assigned to the Shōnen genre because they were originally created primarily for boys in elementary and middle school age.
