Hermann von Wenckstern

Hermann von Wenckstern (born July 4, 1882 in Amalienhof near Teterow , † August 24, 1964 in Freilassing ) was a forestry and economist, Ministerialrat at the Saxon government.

Hermann von Wenckstern came from the Mecklenburg noble family Wenckstern . He was born as the son of the Mecklenburg landowner Otto von Wenckstern (1847–1934) and his wife Cäcilie (Magdalene Christiane), née. von Thünen (1850–1929) born. From 1902 he studied agriculture, later also economics, in Rostock , Halle , Berlin and finally again in Rostock. From 1926 to 1943 he was Ministerialrat in the Saxon State Ministry. Professor in Rostock. From 1945 to 1960 he was head of the Thünen Archive in Rostock.

As the great-grandson of Johann Heinrich von Thünen , he was particularly keen on his scientific work. He published 55 articles and contributions, most of them on Thünen.
