Cinematic work

In his three feature films Toutes les nuits , Le monde vivant and Le pont des arts , Eugène Green has created a style of his own that has obvious parallels, especially with the work of Robert Bresson and Yasujirō Ozu . Its most conspicuous component is a mostly fixed camera, which captures the dialogues written in very stylized language in the shot-reverse shot . The acting of the actors is very reserved and closely resembles the Bresson tone. Again and again, Green takes up mystical and baroque themes that have also preoccupied him in his previous artistic activities. His film Le fils de Joseph was shown at the 2016 Berlinale. According to the film critic Kirsten Dietrich, it is "fascinating" how the film tries to "translate the power of the religious into the cultural, so to speak".
