Eugen Stross

Eugen Gustav Stross (* 1954 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian graphic artist.

Life

Eugen Stross finished his training in 1974 at the higher technical college HTBLA for weaving and textile design with distinction. He then worked for a few years as a textile designer in Munich . He has been married since 1975, has two children and lives in Bruckmühl in the Rosenheim district .

Awards

In 1994 and 2004 Eugen Stross was awarded the “Book of the Month” by the German Academy for Children's and Young Adult Literature . He also received a gold medal in 2008 and a silver medal in 2009 from the Graphisches Klub Stuttgart for his art calendar “Avant Art”. In 2015 he was awarded bronze at the Gregor Calendar Award .

Works

Since 1980 the graphic artist has worked as a designer, painter, illustrator and author of more than 40 children's books. He himself wrote 10 children's books and also illustrated books a. a. by Bishop Franz Kamphaus , Pierre Franckh , Albert Biesinger and Barbara Cratzius. Some of Eugen Stross' books have been translated into different languages: Korean, Italian, Dutch and Norwegian. His art and cartoon calendars and postcards are distributed by German and international publishers.

His works are characterized by expressive and atmospheric color palettes, with which he depicts slightly abstract, minimalist landscapes or detailed, playful animal portraits. In his graphics he uses acrylic and watercolor paints, pencil and pen.
