Eugen Weschke (criminologist)

Eugen Weschke (born May 9, 1932 ; † December 26, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German criminologist and university professor. From 1986 to 1991 he was rector of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice .

Life

Eugen Weschke studied law and then worked in the Berlin Senate Department for the Interior and in the criminal police. He then was professor of criminology at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice for 23 years. In 1986 he became rector of the university, which under his leadership was transformed from an internal administrative to a freely accessible educational institution. Weschke thus created the essential prerequisites for the later merger with the University of Applied Sciences for Economics to form the Berlin School of Economics and Law .

Weschke found his final resting place in the Steglitz cemetery .
