The Beacon Street is a 10.3 mi (16.6 km) long road in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It leads east from Route 16 in Newton via Brighton and Brookline past Kenmore Square to the confluence with Tremont Street and School Street in Boston .
Route
The route begins in Newton on Massachusetts Route 16 in the immediate vicinity of Interstate 95 or Massachusetts Route 128 . From there the road leads east through Waban and Newton past Boston College , along the bank of Chestnut Hill Reservoir and from there as a street divided by a median along the tracks of the Green Line past Fenway Park to Kenmore Square . The route runs from here as a narrower street through the Back Bay district and becomes a one-way street from the Massachusetts State House , which finally ends at the intersection of Tremont Street / School Street near the Granary Burying Ground .
The section from Kenmore Square to Massachusetts Route 28 is designed as a one-way street in a westerly direction; By road in an easterly direction must further south largely parallel Commonwealth Avenue and from the Boston Public Garden , the Boylston Street use.
