The Massachusetts Route 2A is a 98.46 mi (158.5 km) long state highway in the state of Massachusetts of the United States with over West (beginning in Greenfield ) to the east (end in Boston ). The route is in parts identical to the former course of Route 2 , which was repositioned or upgraded at these points. The Route 2A led by 2007 in a westerly direction as far as Shelburne Falls in Buckland , but was then to Interstate 91 in Greenfield shortened.
Route
The route begins in Greenfield at the roundabout connection to Interstate 91 or Route 2 . From there, the road leads through the city center to rejoin the main line ( Route 2 ) at the city limits to Gill . 12.6 mi (20,3 km) leaving Route 2A the route 2 and passes through Orange and Athol , where the former end of the route 21 passes, after the construction of the Quabbin reservoir until after Belchertown was shortened. The route continues through Phillipston and Westminster , crossing Route 2 several times. In Fitchburg the street also has several other numberings and in Lunenburg it is partly identical to Route 13 . In Shirley she finally crosses the border to Middlesex County .
North of Fort Devens , Route 2A meets Ayer and continues to Littleton , where it provides access to Interstate 495 . From there it turns south to Acton and Concord , then reunites with the main line. It branches off again north of Walden Pond and leads through Minute Man National Historical Park along the Great Road , which was already used by British troops during the battles at Lexington and Concord . Following the offering Route 2A access to I-95 and Route 128 and continues through Lexington and Arlington , where they identical to the US Highway 3 runs. After leaving Massachusetts Avenue on Alewife Brook Parkway , Route 2A continues through Cambridge and along Harvard Yard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . At Memorial Drive, the route crosses US Highway 3 or Route 3 and crosses the Charles River via Harvard Bridge . In Boston , Route 2A ends on Commonwealth Avenue at the junction with Route 2 or US Highway 20 .
