The Dewey Square is a square in downtown Boston in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is through the streets Summer , Purchase and Congress and the Atlantic Avenue limited.

The Dewey Square Tunnel runs underground and leads Interstate 93 to the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge . On the southeast corner of the square is the Boston South Station with connections to the Amtrak and MBTA trains , the Red Line subway and the Silver Line bus routes .
The place was named after Admiral George Dewey , who fought successfully in the Battle of Manila Bay .
From September 30 to December 10, 2011, a tent city of the Occupy Boston movement was located on the square .
