The One Financial Center building is a skyscraper in the Financial District of Boston in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . Completed in 1983, it is the seventh tallest building in the city at 590  ft (179.83  m ) high and 46 stories . A 90  ft (27.43  m ) high lobby extends as a glass-roofed atrium over the first two floors. The remaining floors contain office space that is rented by law firms , certified public accountants and companies from the financial services sector.

The building stands in Dewey Square on a historic 5,000 m² site next to Boston South Station and the Federal Reserve Bank Building , thus connecting the area around Fort Point Channel with the Boston Financial District .

During the Big Dig special care was required to a reduction of the soil to prevent underneath the building because the construction work at a distance of only 25  ft (7.62  m past led) at the foundations of the tower, due to the local geography on earth and not stand on the rock .

Including the two transmitter masts on the roof of the building , the building reaches a height of 683  ft (208.18  m ) and is in this respect the third tallest building in Boston. Apart from these structures and the associated cables , the roof is flat and has no crown.
