The Prudential Tower is a skyscraper in Boston in the United States of America . At 229 meters, it is the second tallest building in Boston after the John Hancock Tower , was constructed from 1960 to 1964 and has 52 floors. Its observation deck on the fiftieth floor is the highest accessible in New England , as the higher platform on the John Hancock Tower has been closed since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks . While it was the tallest building in the world outside of New York at the time of its completion, it is no longer even among the fifty tallest buildings in the United States.
