The First National Bank Building is a skyscraper in the Financial District of Boston in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . Completed in 1971, it is the sixth tallest building in the city at 591  ft (180.14  m ) high and 37 stories . Initially it was home to the worldwide headquarters of the Bank of Boston and later the headquarters of FleetBoston Financial . Today the building houses Bank of America offices .

design

The design of the building is unusual as it has a bulge in the lower part that extends over several floors. The architect of the building planned this to give pedestrians a better view and at the same time to enlarge the available office space. The tower is partly assigned to the Streamline Modern style , partly to Brutalism .
