The Leverett Circle Connector Bridge (also Storrow Drive Connector Bridge ) is a steel box girder bridge in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It runs two lanes each in north and south over the Charles River and connects Interstate 93 at its northern end in Somerville with Storrow Drive and Leverett Circle at its southern end in Boston .
The structure, like the neighboring Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, was built as part of the Big Dig and was opened on October 7, 1999, a week ahead of the plan. During the construction phase, it was also called the Baby Bridge due to the clear difference to the Zakim Bridge .
The bridge is the largest box girder bridge in the United States. In 2001 it was awarded the "Prize Bridge" of the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA).
