The Minute Man National Historical Park includes an approximately 4 square kilometers large area in the state of Massachusetts of the United States , which as since 1966. National Historical Park in the National Register of Historic Places is registered, but has existed since September 21 1959th The first fighting in the American Revolutionary War took place in this area , which is why the park is of great historical importance for the United States.
Components of the park
The park, administered by the National Park Service (NPS), stretches along Massachusetts Route 2A between Concord and Lexington and the urban area of Lincoln and includes a variety of different attractions, including:
- The Wayside - Former home of writers Amos Bronson Alcott , Louisa May Alcott , Nathaniel Hawthorne and Margaret Sidney .
- Old North Bridge - Central location of the American Revolutionary War, which coined the American idiom Shot heard 'round the world based on a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson . Also the location of a statue monument created by Daniel Chester French and an obelisk monument.
- Approx. 8 km long “Battle Road Trail” between Lexington and Concord with a restored colonial look. A memorial commemorates the site of Paul Revere's capture during his midnight ride , and the Hartwell Tavern regularly hosts historical performances during the summer.
- Lexington Battle Green - Not part of the NPS managed part, but part of history and was the site of the first fighting on April 19, 1775. There is also a statue made by Henry Hudson Kitson there .
