The San Juan Island National Historical Park (alternate name: American and English Camps, San Juan Island) is a National Historic Site near Friday Harbor on San Juan Island , Washington (state) , United States.

The former military base, today on the border between Canada and the United States , was built in 1859 in response to the Pig Conflict (border dispute between the Washington Territory ( USA ) and British Columbia ( Kingdom of Great Britain )) and was built around twelve until the peace agreement Operated years later.

On November 5, 1961, the site received the status of a National Historic Landmark . On October 15, 1966, it was listed as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places .

All buildings and facilities are operated by the National Park Service , which also owns the real estate and land. The daily raising of the British flag by a US federal agency is a rarity.
