Eun-Jeung Lee

Eun-Jeung Lee (born September 15, 1963 in Daejeon ) is a South Korean Koreanist .

Life

She studied political science , sociology and ethnology in Seoul and Göttingen . After Hermann Heller's dissertation on state thinking in Göttingen in 1993, she received an Alexander von Humboldt research fellowship from 1994 to 1995 at the University of Halle . After the habilitation grant from the state of Saxony-Anhalt from 1998-2000 and her habilitation on the history of the reception of Confucianism in European thought since the early Enlightenment in 2001 in Halle an der Saale , she had a Japan Foundation Fellowship in Tokyo from 2001 to 2002 . From 2006 to 2007 she represented the chair in Halle. Since 2008 she has been teaching at the Institute for Korean Studies at the Free University of Berlin . Rejected calls to Leipzig and Bochum . In 2013 she received the Mirok Lee Prize of the German-Korean Society. Since 2014 she has been a member of the German-Korean advisory committee on foreign policy issues related to reunification. She has been a member of the Academia Europaea since 2014 . Since 2016 she has been a full member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences .

Her research interests are the intercultural history of political ideas in Europe and East Asia, political theory, political culture, the history and society of Korea, and international comparative transformation research.
