Eun Hee-kyung , also Un Hikyong, (* 1959 in Koch'ang , South Korea ) is a South Korean writer .

Life

Eun Hee-kyung was born in 1959. She grew up in a wealthy family in the provinces and encountered literature at an early age in the form of fairy tales, into the world of which she could completely sink. At the age of 13, she moved to Seoul with her family. In 1977 she began studying Korean literature. She never gave up on the childhood resolution of becoming a writer. In the 80s she worked as a high school teacher, as a lecturer for various publishers or as a publishing consultant. In 1994 she took a leave of absence, took a notebook and retired to a Buddhist monastery to write. There were five short stories and the short novel Das Duett , with which she won a literary prize and finally made her debut as a writer. She lives with her family near Seoul .
