Euphorbia Baga is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia baga grows as a geophyte and has no foliage during flowering. A tuberous root up to 21 centimeters long and 8 centimeters wide gives rise to an underground shoot that branches out on the surface of the soil and becomes about 8 centimeters long and 1.5 centimeters thick. The elliptical leaves arise at the level of the ground and are in a rosette. They are up to 30 inches long and 6 inches wide, but usually smaller. The almost sessile leaves form a distinct midrib, which is usually red in color.
The inflorescence is formed from several red cymes , which are forked one to three times and are located on stems about 15 millimeters long. The cyathia are 5 millimeters in size and the elliptical nectar glands are colored yellow-green. The almost spherical fruit is 6 millimeters in diameter and has a protruding stalk up to 3 millimeters long. The spherical seed is smooth and 2 millimeters in size.
Distribution and systematics

The species was first described in 1933 by Auguste Jean Baptiste Chevalier .
A distinction is made between the following varieties:

- Euphorbia baga var. Parvifolia L.E. Newton ; In contrast to the stem species, the plants remain smaller, the roots are up to 8 centimeters long and 5.5 centimeters wide, the shoots up to 1 centimeter thick, there are significantly more narrow, elliptical leaves that are up to 11 centimeters long and 0.8 centimeters become broad and have a less prominent midrib, the inflorescences stand on thinner stems and the cyathia are up to 4 millimeters in size
