Euphorbia boiteaui is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia boiteaui forms small shrubs up to 15 centimeters in height. Simple shoots that are about 1 centimeter thick grow from a narrow, fibrous root. A few elongated leaves are arranged in a rosette at the end of the shoot. They are seated and are 20 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide. The approximately 3 millimeter long stipules are thickened at the base and are arranged in five rows in a spiral.
The inflorescence consists of simple cymes that appear at the tip of the shoot and are located on a 5 millimeter long stalk. The upright cyathophylls are 7 millimeters wide and 15 millimeters long. The cyathia are small and the elliptical nectar glands are yellowish in color. The bluntly lobed ovary stands on an upright stalk. Nothing is known about the fruit and the seed.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia boiteaui is endemic to the west of Madagascar in the Mandrare Valley at altitudes of 200 to 250 meters. The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered endangered (Vulnerable).
The species was first described in 1946 by Jacques Désiré Leandri .
