The Grüntangente Nord is a network of green spaces in the districts of Schreventeich , Damperhof and Brunswik in the Schleswig-Holstein state capital, Kiel .

It connects the Schrevenpark with the Old Botanical Garden over a length of 1.5 kilometers . The path leads across Lessingplatz, Rosemarie-Kilian-Park , the green space between Holtenauer Straße and Koldingstraße, on Harro-Schulze-Boysen-Weg past the Gayk grove on Gerhardstraße to Pastor-Husfeldt-Park on Feldstraße, before the nurses' walk across the grounds of the Schleswig-Holstein University Hospital and the Schwanenweg complete the connection. In addition to the recreational function, "the entire green corridor, as part of the Velorouten system, takes on the function of a higher-level cycle path connection".

history

The green tangent north was planned since 1947 and was a main element in the reconstruction of Kiel after the Second World War . The planning of open spaces was given special priority in order to create large-scale recreational areas in the city that was destroyed by air raids . The former green space outline plan was based on the principle "the structured and loosened city". From 1990 the green tangent north was redesigned in several construction phases. The Pastor-Husfeldt-Park with a green stepping stone to the connection to the clinic area on the other side of the Feldstrasse was completed as the last construction phase in the years 1997 to 2000.

ecology

The ecological value of the entire facility is "low to medium due to the still low age of the tree population consisting of native and exotic trees, the narrow network of paths and the large lawns and ornamental woodlands."
