Euphorbia brevis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia brevis arises from a bulbous root that is up to 8 centimeters in diameter. The triangular shoots that branch out in the base area are up to 10 centimeters long. On the edges there are bulky warts at a distance of up to 12 millimeters from one another. The triangular thorn shields are up to 3 millimeters in size. Thorns up to 4 millimeters in length and scale-like leaves up to about 1 millimeter in length are formed.

The inflorescence consists of single and simple cymes , which are located on stems up to 12 millimeters long. The cyathia are 4 millimeters in size and the elongated nectar glands meet. The ovary is lobed with sharp edges and stands on a stalk about 6 millimeters long and bent back. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia brevis is common in Angola in shrub areas and on grasslands.

The species was first described in 1911 by Nicholas Edward Brown .
