Euphorbia caput-aureum is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia caput-aureum forms a pentagonal trunk up to about 1 meter in height. The few branches are slightly spiral. The simple thorns are up to 12 millimeters long and occasionally have smaller thorns at the base. The obovate leaves are up to 12 inches long and 3.5 inches wide.

The inflorescence consists of almost sessile cymene , which are forked two to four times. The upright and yellow colored cyathophylls enclose the cyathia . The small cyathia are almost sessile and covered with hair. The nectar glands are elliptical in shape and the stalked fruit is covered with a few hairs. It contains the egg-shaped seed, which is 2.5 millimeters wide and 1.5 millimeters long.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia caput-aureum is endemic to the west of Madagascar . The species is on the IUCN Red List , but there is insufficient data for it (data deficient).

The species was first described in 1921 by Marcel Denis .
