Euphorbia chersina is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia chersina forms rich and densely branched shrubs up to 60 centimeters in height or even higher. The up to 15 centimeters long shoots are up to 7 millimeters thick. The further branching takes place opposite or forked with very spread shoots that are 0.8 to 5 centimeters long. The underdeveloped leaves are generally long-lived.

The inflorescence consists of cymes that are in tufts. The almost sedentary cyathia become 2 millimeters in size and have 1 millimeter bracts. The elongated nectar glands butt against each other and the ovary is provided with blunt edges. The almost spherical fruit stands on a short, protruding stem and is 4 millimeters in size. Nothing is known about the seed.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia chersina is widespread in Namibia and in the South African province of North Cape in Namaqualand .

The species was first described in 1915 by Nicholas Edward Brown . A synonym for this species is Tirucallia chersina (NEBr.) PVHeath (1996).
