Euphorbia classenii is a species of plant of the genus milkweed ( Euphorbia ) in the family of the milkweed family(Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia classenii forms shrubs with dense branching from the base up to 1 meter in height. The six- to eight-sided shoots are up to 3 centimeters thick and are bright green in color. The clearly pronounced edges are covered with flat warts that are 6 to 12 millimeters apart. The elongated triangular thorn shields are up to 2 millimeters wide and 6 millimeters long. Thorns up to 8 millimeters in length are formed.

The inflorescence consists of single and simple cymes that are almost sessile. The cyathia reach 4 millimeters in diameter. The elongated nectar glands are colored yellow and butt against each other. The bluntly lobed fruit is about 4 millimeters long and 5 millimeters wide. It stands on a bent back handle up to 4 millimeters long. In the fruit there is the egg-shaped seed, which is about 2 millimeters in size and has a smooth surface.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia classenii is widespread in Kenya on Mount Kasigau on wooded, stony slopes at altitudes of 900 to 1200 meters.

The species was first described in 1974 by Peter René Oscar Bally and Susan Carter Holmes .
