Euphorbia confluens is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia confluens forms small shrubs up to 25 centimeters in height and 35 centimeters in diameter. From a fleshy root that merges underground into the stem axis, an inverted conical plant body is formed, which is up to 11 centimeters in diameter and has many branches. The upright and spreading branches are 4 to 18 centimeters long and are arranged radially around the warts-covered vegetation center. They get about an inch thick. Many short side shoots are formed at the tips of the external shoots. All shoots are patterned by clearly protruding warts that can be up to 8 millimeters long and 10 millimeters wide. The linear leaves are up to 2 centimeters long and are short-lived.

At the tips of the shoots individual cyathia are formed, which stand on 1 to 3.5 centimeters long stems. These stems harden and stay on the plant for a long time. The cyathia are covered with hair and reach 1.5 millimeters in diameter. The nectar glands are yellow-green in color and have four to six white, split and hair-like appendages. These are up to 2 millimeters long. The almost spherical ovary is covered with hair and sitting. The bluntly lobed fruit becomes 6 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide. Nothing is known about the seed.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia confluens is widespread in the South African province of North Cape in the Richtersveld .

The species was first described in 1933 by Gert Cornelius Nel .
