Euphorbia cuneata is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

The succulent Euphorbia cuneata grows xerophytically as a woody shrub or small tree and is up to 4 meters high. The branches on the outside are up to 12 centimeters long and branch off at right angles from the older branches. The obovate leaves are in clusters and are up to 4.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The stipules are provided with glands and very pointed.

The very small cymen are covered with downy hairs and forked two to three times. Many two to five-rayed umbels are formed, with the rays being up to 7 millimeters long. The cyathia can also stand individually and reach 7 millimeters in diameter. The circular nectar glands are colored yellow and stand individually. The bluntly lobed fruit is about 7 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide. It contains the almost spherical, about 2.5 millimeters large seed, which has a smooth surface.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia cuneata is widespread on the Arabian Peninsula , in Sudan and southwards in East Africa to the north of Tanzania .

The species was first described in 1791 by Martin Vahl . Synonyms for this species are Tirucallia cuneata (Vahl) PVHeath (1996), Euphorbia fruticosa Edgeworth and Euphorbia perrottetii Jaubert & Spach (1855).
