Euphorbia robivelonae is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia robivelonae grows as a shrub with many branches and reaches a height of 1 meter. The shoots are up to 1 centimeter thick and are covered with leaf scars. The linear, dark green and somewhat thick leaves stand on a 5 millimeter long stem and are up to 8 centimeters long and 0.8 centimeters wide.
The inflorescence consists of individual cymes that stand on 1.5 centimeter long inflorescence stalks. The white cyathophylls are 12 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide, surround the cyathia , which are about 2 millimeters in diameter, and have wide tips. The nectar glands are colored yellow. The bluntly lobed and almost sessile fruit reaches 3 millimeters in diameter.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia robivelonae is endemic to the north of Madagascar at altitudes of 60 to 100 meters. The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered critically endangered.
The species was first described in 1994 by Werner Rauh .
