The ship type was designed by the shipbuilding office Vuyk Engineering Groningen and implemented by the Shipkits yard in Groningen. The partner shipyard in Stettin delivered the hulls. The ships are designed as multi-purpose dry cargo ships with a deckhouse in the front and a long, middle hold . They are mainly used in the transport of bulk goods, piece goods, small project loads or containers . Thanks to the reinforced tank cover , which can be loaded with up to 15 t / m², it is also possible to load heavy goods. The container capacity is 214 TEU, 108 of which can be stowed in the room and 106 on deck. The ship can also load 96 40-foot containers or 48 45-foot containers. The 5050 m³ hold of the ships is closed with stacking hatch covers (piggy-back) that are operated by a movable hatch car.
The ships are powered by an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the MaK 8M20 type with an output of 1250 kW . The engine enables a speed of around 12 knots . Two auxiliary diesels are also available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
