Euroclio
EUROCLIO , the European Association of History Educators , is an amalgamation of 84 associations from 40 countries (2018; not all from Europe). This includes many regional associations, including the Association of History Teachers in Germany , as well as other historical educational institutions.
As an umbrella organization, it has set itself the goal of improving historical education across Europe with innovative methods and thus making a contribution to consolidating democracy. Multiperspectivity , critical thinking, mutual respect and the inclusion of controversial topics in the curricula are emphasized . Establishing and maintaining international contacts and conversations between different religions and denominations is of central importance. A current project is the design of the Historiana website with multi-perspective material on many topics of history.
The umbrella organization was founded in 1992/3, the secretariat is in The Hague . It works with the Council of Europe , the European Union , the OSCE , UNESCO and with national and regional governments and other associations geared towards historical education, such as the Anne Frank Foundation of the Netherlands , the Körber Foundation and the Georg Eckert Foundation. Institute . Funding is provided through project funds for the purposes mentioned. The annual congresses with the election of the five-member board and the president usually take place in different European countries, in 2018 for the 25th time in Marseille / France.
