11th European Civil Protection Congress 2015

The European Congress on Disaster Management is an annual event since 2005, internationally oriented conference for decision-makers and actors of civil protection at national, European and international level. The two-day conference has been organized by the Spiegel authorities since 2015 in Berlin . It was previously held in Bonn .

Civil Protection Congresses

The congress, with 800 to 1000 participants from over 40 nations every year, provides information about current developments in the field of disaster and civil protection and promotes dialogue between all actors involved. The conference has so far been supported by the Federal Ministry of the Interior , the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief , the Technical Relief Organization and the German Red Cross . Support also came from the German Fire Brigade Association and the European Commission .

In the accompanying exhibition, among others, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research , aid organizations such as the Johanniter Accident Aid or federal authorities such as the German Weather Service . There are also, for example, the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and the Public Safety Research Forum.

11th European Civil Protection Congress

The main topics of the 11th European Civil Protection Congress in 2015 were, for example, dealing with the influx of refugees, dealing with pandemics and epidemics and dealing with humanitarian disasters.

12th European Civil Protection Congress

The main topics of the 12th European Disaster Management Congress in 2016 included the consequences of climate change for the civil protection authorities, the challenges for non-police hazard prevention due to the "tightened security situation" and state crisis and emergency management.

13th European Civil Protection Congress

The main topics of the 13th European Civil Protection Congress in 2017 were, among other things, the challenges for fire and rescue services after terrorist attacks, resilience concepts and ways to increase the self-protection and self-help skills of the population.

14th European Civil Protection Congress

The main topics of the 14th European Civil Protection Congress in 2018 included cooperation between the European Union and its member states in matters of civil protection, protection against CBRN threats and international cooperation.

15th European Civil Protection Congress

The main topics of the 15th European Civil Protection Congress in 2019 were the effects of global climate change on civil protection and civil protection.

Previous congresses

The priorities of the previous conference, the congress started in Bonn in 2005 and moved to Berlin in 2015, included: early detection and alerting (2005), major incidents (2006) and cross-border coordination (2008). Added to this were new technologies in disaster control (2009), civil-military cooperation (2012) and international and transnational cooperation in disaster control (2014).
