Council of the Working Groups of Priestly Councils of Europe

The Council of the Working Groups of Priestly Councils of Europe (Consilium Commissionum Presbyteralium Europae, abbreviated to CCPE, or European Priestly Council for short ) is the body for the cooperation of national and diocesan Catholic priestly councils in Europe.

The European Council of Priests advises the Council of European Bishops' Conferences ( CCEE ) and promotes exchange and cooperation between the various countries.

The European Council of Priests is headed by a President and a General Secretary. The two offices are elected for five years. Until 2008, the office of President was Christian Schaller , pastor of Basel- Binningen (Switzerland); he was followed by Michael Max , pastor of Neumarkt am Wallersee (Austria). The Secretary General is Josef Zerndl , Cathedral Chapter in Bamberg (Germany); he succeeded Father Lorenz Voith, Provincial of the Redemptorists in Vienna (Austria).
