European social award

The European Social Prize or European Social Prize in Eschweiler has been awarded annually since 1997 on October 3rd by the European Association GPB based in Eschweiler , North Rhine-Westphalia ; The abbreviation is ESP. The award winners are people who “do not have a mandate or function in political parties or social institutions, unselfishly and on a private initiative for humanity” (quote from § 2 of the statutes).

The GesellschaftPolitische Bildungsungsgemeinschaft (GPB) is a non-profit, independent, non-partisan institution for political education and was founded on September 16, 1991 in Eschweiler.

Until 2005 the prize was partially awarded in neighboring Stolberg .
