The theme for the event, which took place from May 14th to 15th in the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels, was “ The Business Agenda 2014 - 2019: Rebuilding a Competitive Europe ”. The European politicians Michel Barnier , José Manuel Barroso and Jonathan Faull acted as speakers , as well as entrepreneurs and CEOs . The closing session dealt with candidates for the office of President of the European Commission after the 2014 European elections . A study on how digital technologies are changing the European economy was also presented.

The left-wing political alliance Blockupy tried to block the event. According to Toni Negri , Europe could become a “political laboratory in the sense of Blockupy, in order to rethink concepts such as counterpower and autonomy in a perspective that would also give the idea of democracy a new meaning”. Around 250 arrests were made during the demonstration against the conference.
