Euroregion Silesia
The Euroregion Silesia is a Euroregion in Poland and the Czech Republic .
On the Polish side, the Raciborski , Glubczycki , Wodzislawski and Rybnicki districts belong to the Euroregion, which are located in the Opole and Silesian Voivodeships .
On the Czech side, it is one of four Euroregions in the Moravian-Silesian area , with the areas of Okres Opava , parts of Okres Bruntál ( Krnov Ländchen) and Nový Jičín . Members of the region are 61 municipalities and cities as well as three organizations, the Opava Chamber of Commerce and the Silesian University in Opava . The Polish side forms a Stowarzyszenie Gmin Dorzecza Górnej Odry ( union of the municipalities of the Upper Oder ), with 19 towns and municipalities. A total of 520,000 people live in the region.
A common history, linguistic relationship, cultural similarities, political conditions and economic potential are good prerequisites for intensive Czech-Polish cooperation. The area is a natural geographical environment for people to come into contact with people across national borders, without natural obstacles such as mountains or larger bodies of water. These contacts are also supported by the unusually high number of border crossings (there are 17 crossings over 90 kilometers).
