Lennart von Post (born June 16, 1884 , † January 11, 1951 ) came from the German-Swedish noble family von Post and was a Swedish geologist, from 1929 to 1950 professor of geology at Stockholm University . With his diagrams for pollen analysis published in 1916, the student of Rutger Sernander is considered to be the founder of palynology .

In 1930 he took over the chairmanship of the Swedish Geological Association (Geologiska Föreningen). He examined pollen in the peat of boggy lakes. With the help of the microscope , he determined the species of plants and counted the percentages of trees, bushes and grasses, which made a relative chronology possible.
