The powiat Rybnicki is a powiat ( district ) in the Polish Voivodeship of Silesia . It has an area of 224.63 km², on which around 70,000 people live.
geography
The district has no contiguous district area, but consists of three parts. These are east, south and west of the district town of Rybnik , which forms its own urban district (actually miasto na prawach powiatu, "city with rights of a powiat "). Neighboring districts are in the north Gliwice , in the east Mikołów in the southeast the urban districts Żory and Jastrzębie Zdrój , in the south Wodzisław Śląski and in the west Racibórz .

politics
The district administration is headed by a starost . Since 1999 this has been Damian Mrowiec from the Platforma Obywatelska , who is supported by the election committee "Development Movement of the Municipalities of the Rybnik Region".
District council
The district council consists of 21 members who are elected by the population. The 2018 elections brought the following results:
- Election Committee “Development Movement of Municipalities of the Rybnik Region” 37.8% of the votes, 8 seats
- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 25.4% of the vote, 5 seats
- Election Committee “Local Community of the Subregion” 19.8% of the vote, 3 seats
- Silesian Regional Party 9.4% of the vote, 2 seats
- Election Committee of the Silesian Community “Ciosek” - Together for Silesia 7.6% of the vote, 1 seat
