The movement for the autonomy of Silesia ( Polish: Ruch Autonomii Śląska , RAŚ for short) is a u. a. politically active citizens' movement in Poland , which was founded after the political change in 1990. The movement's current chairman is Jerzy Gorzelik .

idea

Following on from the rich traditions of the Silesian autonomy in the time of the Piast principalities , the Prussian provinces of Silesia , Lower and Upper Silesia , the region as part of Austria and the Silesian Voivodeship in the Second Polish Republic , the movement has the Upper Silesia region and made the Silesians as a population group the object of their politics. Its aim is, among other things, a stronger self-government of the two Upper Silesian voivodships Silesia and Opole .

history

The Movement for the Autonomy of Silesia was founded in January 1990 by Rudolf Kołodziejczyk in Rybnik .

Since 2010 the RAŚ has been part of the coalition in the government of the Silesian Voivodeship. The RAŚ ended its cooperation with the PO in April 2013.

Cooperations

In Germany the initiative of Autonomie Schlesiens eV ( IAS for short ) exists in Würzburg and was founded independently of the RAŚ , which is active in Poland . On October 17th, 2009 the German IAS , the Polish RAŚ and the British Silesian Autonomy Movement ( SAM for short ) signed a cooperation agreement in Opole . At the last board meeting, the IAS made an addition to the statutes and in the association name. The focus of the initiative of the cultural autonomy of Silesia eV (short IkAS ) lies in the historical-political processing and cultural work.
