Our country - Le Parti Alsacien is a regional party in the French Alsace . She advocates greater autonomy for Alsace. The party emerged from the Alsatian People's Union , the organization Fer's Alsace and smaller groups. The new party was officially established on February 11, 2010.
The party is a member of the association of French regional parties Fédération Régions et Peuples Solidaires and at European level a member of the European Free Alliance .
Alsatian People's Union
The Alsatian People's Union ( French : Union du Peuple Alsacien , UPA ) was founded in 1988.
In the 2009 European elections , the party entered into a list with the French Greens and other parties under the name Europe Écologie , which managed to become the third strongest force in France and to send 14 representatives to the European Parliament .
program
In its party program, Our Country calls for greater decentralization of France, the creation of a regional executive and a regional education system under its own school administration. The agenda also includes strengthening the local media, the establishment of a European university based in Strasbourg , the formation of an administrative unit in Strasbourg- Kehl and the closure of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant . There is also a call for the two departments in Alsace to be merged: Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin . The Alsatian is to be next to the French the official language in Alsace and the entire administration should be bilingual. Luxembourg (German / French / Luxembourgish) and Switzerland (German / French / Italian) are seen as models here . The party distances itself from right-wing extremist movements and explicitly from Alsace d'abord . These would have discredited the Alsatian autonomy movement as a whole.
elections
The party joined Europe Écologie in the regional elections in March 2010 in the Haut-Rhin department . On March 27, 2011, our country won a mandate for the first time in the cantonal elections in the canton of Sarre-Union . In the parliamentary elections in 2012 , Denis Lieb was a candidate of the party in the constituency of Bas-Rhin 7 and achieved 9.65% in the first round. In the 2015 departmental elections, the party achieved its best results so far, with up to 24.4% in the canton of Saint-Louis , but without moving into the second ballot.
