The Powiat Bieruńsko-Lędziński , until 2002 Powiat Tyski , is a powiat ( district ) with the district town of Bieruń in the Polish Voivodeship of Silesia . It covers an area of ​​157 km², on which around 60,000 people live.

In 1999 it was decided to move the district headquarters from Tychy to Bieruń and the district was renamed on January 1st, 2002.

The district administration is headed by a starost . Since 2014, this has been Bernard Bednorz from the “Local Administration” election committee.

District council

The district council consists of 17 members who are elected by the population. The 2018 elections brought the following results:

  • Election Committee “Local Administration” 38.6% of the vote, 7 seats
  • Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 29.8% of the vote, 5 seats
  • Election Committee "Bieruńsko-Lędziński Electoral Association" 16.4% of the vote, 3 seats
  • Silesian Regional Party 9.5% of the vote, 1 seat
  • Election committee of the Porąbek association in Bierun 5.7% of the votes, 1 seat
