Świerklany ( German Schwirklan ) is a rural municipality in the powiat Rybnicki in the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland . The seat of the rural community is the village of Jankowice Rybnickie .

geography

The municipality of Świerklany is located 42 km southwest of Katowice and 10 km south of Rybnik . The municipality has an area of 24.02 km². 62 percent of this is used for agriculture and 15 percent is covered with forest.

history

Jankowice Rybnickie has been the seat of the municipality since the end of 1999, previously it was in Świerklany Górne.

From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Katowice Voivodeship .

Jankowice Rybnickie ( Royal Jankowitz ),
Świerklany Dolne ( Nieder Schwirklan ) and
Świerklany Górne ( Upper Schwirklan ).

education

The municipality has three kindergartens ( Przedszkole ), three primary schools ( szkoła podstawowa ) and two middle schools ( gimnazjum ). The community also has a public library.
