Eurynecroscia nigrofasciata is an insect in the order Phasmatodea and family Diapheromeridae. The adult animals are around 12 cm long and have a wingspan of 13 cm.

Taxonomy and common names

It was first described under the name ( Basionym ) Tagesoidea nigrofasciata in 1908 by Redtenbacher . So it was placed in the genus Tagoidea . The new combination to Eurynecroscia nigrofasciata was published in 2013 by Hennemann & Conle, who put this species in the genus Eurynecroscia . Sometimes this species is still listed today under its old scientific name. B. in insect collections (photos of insect collections). In English, insect collectors also use the trivial names "Yellow Umbrella Stick Insect" and "Yellow Fan Stick Insect".

distribution

The distribution area is around the " Tapah Hills ", Peninsular , Malaysia . Only the Orang Asli (the indigenous people of Peninsular, Malaysia) know where in the Tapah Hills this species can be found. So far, no subspecies of Eurynecroscia nigrofasciata are known.

Reproduction

The eggs are similar in shape to those of Necroscia, about 4 mm long, dark gray with a light gray area on the anterior egg pole. The incubation time takes place as described in the HH method on slightly damp sand and lasts about 5–6 months at approx. 20–23 ° C. The approximately 14 mm long larvae consist of an orange-brown body, black eyes and two white-black ringed antennae .

nutrition

The natural forage plant appears to be Litsea robusta (according to Francis Seow-Choen, Singapore). However, this first has to be proven by a long-term study.
