Eusebio Oehl

Eusebio Oehl (born December 5, 1827 in Lodi , † April 10, 1903 in Pavia ) was an Italian physiologist and histologist .

Life

Oehl studied medicine at the University of Pavia until 1850 . From 1857 to 1858 he stayed in Vienna, where he worked for Josef Hyrtl and Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke . After his return to Pavia he became a private lecturer in 1858, associate professor in 1860 and full professor of histology and physiology in 1864.

Eusebio Oehl published a textbook on physiology and writings on the systematic microscopic examination of histological specimens. In the English-speaking world, muscle fibers discovered by him in the connective tissue chordae tendineae of the mitral valve of the heart are called Oehl's muscles .
