Eva Bender

Eva Bender (* 3. January 1944 in Junsele , Sweden as Eva Abrahamson ) is a Swedish actress. She was a star of Turkish cinema in the 1960s and 1970s. She became known among other things through the film series Tarkan (1969–1973).

Life

Born and raised in northern Lapland , Bender lived in Stockholm from the age of sixteen , where she also graduated from high school and then worked for a while as an assistant teacher. In Turkey, she initially worked in a casino, but was soon discovered as an actress.

As early as the mid-1960s, Bender was seen in Turkish films in which she played a number of leading roles - usually exotic beauties. She was successful in the role of the German Eva, who fell in love with a Turkish guest worker in Bir Türk'e gönül verdim (1969). This film was also noticed in Germany. The actress was repeatedly seen as the sorceress Gosha in the popular Tarkan films.

From 1968 to 1972 Eva Bender was married to the director Halit Refig . At that time, she was also often featured on the covers of Turkish magazines. After that, she was rarely seen in significant roles. In 1980 Bender moved back to Sweden. One of her last film appearances was in the Turkish feature film Firar in 1984 .

At the end of 2012, Hıncal Uluç published the text Bir Türk'e gönül vermişti about Eva Bender in the Turkish newspaper Sabah, based on one of her most famous roles .
