Eva Roth Heege (* 1963 in Bern ) is a Swiss art historian and medieval and modern archaeologist .

education

Eva Roth Heege completed her training as an art historian of the Middle Ages and modern times at the University of Bern . In the first minor she studied architectural history and monument preservation, in the second minor, history of the Middle Ages. In 1994 she completed her studies with a licentiate in medieval art history with Ellen Beer . The topic of the licentiate thesis was "Late Gothic relief ceramic stove in Bern, production and motifs". The work was published in the same year.

Professional activity

During her studies, Heege was employed part-time in the archaeological service of the canton of Bern, where she led excavations and processed and archived finds, among other things. After completing her studies in 1994, she worked as a research assistant in the archaeological service of the canton of Bern. As part of this activity, she was responsible for the evaluation of medieval finds and the excavation management of smaller local excavations, including at the Aarberg town square. To this end, she published, among other things, "Bern's great time": Investigations into the residential buildings of the 15th century in the city of Bern .

In 1999, Heege switched to the urban archeology of Einbeck in Lower Saxony as a research assistant . Here she recorded, among other things, the stove ceramic finds from 1991 to 2001 and published on the subject of "Einbeck in the Middle Ages": basic work, processing the stove ceramic finds . The conception and implementation of the exhibition "Einbeck, an archaeological search for traces" in the Municipal Museum in Einbeck from May to August 2002 also fell under her aegis.

In 2001 Heege was employed as a deputy cantonal archaeologist and research assistant in the cantonal archeology department in Zug. During this time she published, among other things, "Burg Zug" and accompanied various publications. She also led an excavation in Rathausgasse 6/8, on which she also published. She also carried out excavations in the old town of Zug, for which she in turn published “Archeology of the City of Zug” .

Since 2013 she has been Head of the "Inventories and Finds" department and deputy cantonal archaeologist in the Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology.

Research priorities

Eva Roth Heege's research focuses on material culture . There is particular interest in research into oven ceramics and tiled stoves as well as pottery and ceramics in Switzerland.
