Eva Syková (born July 24, 1944 in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem ) is a Czech neuroscientist .

Act

Syková's research focuses on the origins, mechanisms and maintenance of ionic and volume homeostasis in the central nervous system and the role of extrasynaptic transmission, spinal cord injuries. She is currently conducting several clinical trials, including a Phase I / II trial in patients with spinal cord injuries and ongoing clinical trials in patients with ALS and ischemic leg injury. She was director of the Institute for Experimental Medicine of the Academy of Sciences and head of the Center for Cell Therapy and Tissue Repair at Charles University in Prague. Since 1999 she has been a full member of the Academia Europaea . Syková is the author of 421 publications and co-owner of seven patents with an H index of 50.

From 2012 to 2018 Syková held a seat in the Senate of Parliament for the Prague 4 constituency .
