Church from the south-east

The Evangelical Reformed Church Hiddesen is a church in the Detmold district of Hiddesen and part of the Evangelical Reformed class south in the Lippe regional church .

history

Until the 18th century, Hiddesen shared the church and cemetery with the neighboring community of Heidenoldendorf . Towards the end of the century, Hiddesen received its own cemetery, next to which a chapel was built in 1800. This chapel was demolished again in 1902. It was not until six years later that a Protestant kindergarten was built in Hiddesen, which was also used for church services in the following years. On January 1, 1947, the Lippe regional synod declared the Evangelical Reformed parish of Hiddesen to be legally independent. She received her first pastor from the former Augustdorf pastor Karl Fuhr.

On July 4, 1948, the church council decided to build a church. The Hamburg master church builder Gerhard Langmaack was won as the architect , whose plans were put into practice on September 24, 1951. The bell consecration took place on June 30, 1952, and the new building was inaugurated with a service on October 12, 1952. The construction costs amounted to approx. 250,000 DM. It would take until 1959 for the church to receive an organ financed by donations.

Architecture and equipment

The church has an angled floor plan with the main nave facing north-south and a side aisle to the east, which normally serves as a community hall and is separated by a sliding door. On special occasions, however, the door is opened and the seating is oriented towards the church. To the south of the main nave is the bell tower, through which the church is entered. The church consists of plastered, white-painted masonry, the gable roof of which , like the tent roof of the tower, is covered with brown pans.

There is space for around 250 visitors in the church. The slightly raised choir is on the north side, behind it is the stained glass window 'Morgenglanz der Ewigkeit' by the Münster glass artist Erwin Löhr. To the left and right of the choir there are rooms for the sacristy and organ technology. The former Fürst zur Lippe donated the material for the wooden ceiling at the request of the Chairman of the Building Committee, Emil Gausmann. The seating in the church consists of rows of chairs in the rear part and flexible single chairs in the front part.
