Halle-Nietleben Church

The Protestant church in the Nietleben district of Halle (Saale) was built by Otto Kilburger in 1884–1886 and inaugurated in 1886. The church consists of a central building on an octagonal floor plan, a semicircular choir apse in the east and the west tower with a diamond- shaped helmet. It belongs to the parish area Halle-Neustadt / Nietleben in the parish of Halle-Saale district of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The outer walls are provided with pilaster strips , blinds and arched friezes . The style of the church is historic and is based on late Romanesque buildings . The octagonal floor plan probably has Byzantine or Carolingian models.

inner space

The church has about 700 seats and is designed as a Protestant sermon church. The interior is equipped with galleries all around . Church pews and a life-size baroque crucifix were taken over from the ruined church in the neighboring deserted Granau to the Nietleben church.

Since the two bronze bells from 1886 had to be handed in during the First World War, three steel bells were purchased from the Ulrich and Weule bell foundry in Apolda in 1922 . The original organ , a work of the Merseburg organ builder Friedrich Gerhardt , is still preserved.
