The Evangelical Church Rußhütte is a Protestant parish church in the Saarbrücken district of Rußhütte . It is a listed monument as a single monument.

history

The Protestant church in Rußhütte was built in 1936/37 according to designs by the Saarbrücken architect Rudolf Krüger . But just a few years after its inauguration, it was destroyed in World War II. In 1947 the parish of the Malstatt district received an emergency church donated by Swiss churches on Rheinstrasse, where the Rußhütte believers also went to worship. In 1949 it was rebuilt by Krüger.

In 2003, a fire caused damage to the church when a fire broke out in the basement kitchen of the meeting rooms.

architecture

The hall church is an elongated rectangular building with a gable roof. In the east, a recessed rectangular choir adjoins the nave, on the south wall of which a squat church tower was built on a square floor plan. Light enters the interior through tall and narrow arched windows. The flat-roofed hall is supported by a wooden beam ceiling. The chancel is slightly raised and is dominated by a wooden cross. You enter the church via a wide arched portal with a contrasting color on the south side.

There are community rooms in the basement of the church.

Furnishing

The colored round windows in the front wall of the choir and in the nave are by György Lehoczky and the glass painter Oberberger. A large Evangelist window is let into the wall above the gallery. On the north wall there is a copy of the resurrection group of the Isenheim Altarpiece .

organ

The organ dates from 1963 and was created by the Walcker organ builder for the St. Martin church in Thailen near Weiskirchen in the northern Saarland. When the Hugo Mayer Orgelbau company built a new instrument there in 1984 , the Walcker organ was installed in the Evangelical Church of Rußhütte a year later. It has a mechanical play and register action and split loops . The disposition is:
