The Evangelical Church at Paulshöhe , originally a chapel , is a listed church building in Boltenhagen in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).

History and architecture

The building stands at the end of a dune on Paulshöhe, it was built from 1872 to 1873 according to plans by Helmuth Brunswig. The neo-Gothic rectangular brick building closes on three sides.

The original equipment has been preserved:

  • the altar painting with the crucifixion scene (1873).
  • the baptismal bowl (1948) represents the cloud of witnesses .
  • the bell in the west gable, cast in 1879, and the bell in the roof turret from the 1950s.
  • the gilded silver chalice (early 17th century)
  • the gilded silver paten (1679).

A memorial stone to the northeast of the chapel commemorates the floods of November 12th and 13th, 1872 . Almost the entire place was destroyed. Another memorial stone commemorates the Wismar pastor Johann Joachim Hartwig Meyer , who has been on vacation in Boltenhagen since 1830 and is of great importance for Boltenhagen's development into a seaside resort and also for the building of churches.
