The Protestant Foundation Neinstedt (ESN) ( Neinstedter Anstalten until 2015 ) is a foundation founded in Neinstedt (Saxony-Anhalt) under the umbrella of Diakonie . As a social service, it mainly takes care of disabled and mentally ill people.

history

The Neinstedter institutes were founded in 1850 by the couple Marie Nathusius and the later ennobled Philipp von Nathusius . They set up the boy rescue house for socially endangered and difficult to educate boys as well as the brothers house for caring staff on the Lindenhof . In January 1861, Johanne Nathusius (1828–1885), a younger sister of Philipp, brought the Elisabeth Foundation into being. This foundation was created as a home for mentally handicapped children.

During the National Socialist era , some of the foster people were victims of the T4 euthanasia campaign and murdered in the Bernburg killing center .

Disability assistance

Disability assistance is the largest area of ​​the facility. There are also dormitories and assisted living as well as outdoor living groups in Quedlinburg , Calvörde , Thale and Neinstedt, where mentally handicapped people are cared for from school age to the end of their life. A mixed dormitory and boarding school is attached to the Johannenschule as a special needs school with a special focus on intellectual development. The supervised students come from Neinstedt and the surrounding areas. The possibility of training and work can be found in the workshop for disabled people . Day care is also possible.

Other facilities

The foundation also includes nine day-care centers, nursing care with the specialist hospital for psychiatry and the lung clinic in Ballenstedt , care for the elderly with a nursing home , homes for assisted living , outpatient care services and the area of ​​training in the Protestant college for curative care and the Lindenhof deaconry.

Others

The German songwriter Gerhard Schöne recorded his CD “Paths to one another” in 2000 together with the resident choir and the recorder ensemble of the facility.

As part of the “Paca Domo” project, which has been running since the beginning of November 2015, 26 unaccompanied minor refugees are currently housed in the foundation. On September 1, 2016, an incident occurred in which a 13-year-old girl from Thale was allegedly raped by three of the refugees; after threats against the facility were u. a. the security measures increased.
